Our Founder: ANKITA SHARMA
Ankita Sharma, the Founder and Creative Director of Slate and Scene Productions Ltd, is an award-winning filmmaker with over seven years of experience in directing commercial, documentary, and fictional films. She holds a Master of Arts in Filmmaking from the University of East London and combines her creative expertise with PRINCE2-style project management to deliver structured, deadline-driven, and high-quality productions.
Ankita recently led the successful Staffordshire Libraries Film Project (commissioned by Staffordshire County Council), which involved scripting, directing, and producing a series of community-centred short films showcasing the county’s library network and its social impact. The project required managing multiple locations, coordinating with local stakeholders, developing scripts in collaboration with library officers, and ensuring authentic community representation. Her approach—combining cinematic storytelling with public engagement—earned strong praise for capturing inclusivity, learning, and local pride.
Furthermore, she is also known for crafting emotionally intense narratives that span horror, body horror, and documentary genres. She began her storytelling journey with the release of her debut novel, It’s You I Want, on September 17, 2018. This novel laid the foundation for the Rotten Valley universe - a dark, psychological world that continues to expand across her work in film and literature.
Ankita’s films explore the concealed emotional lives of her characters, often touching on the grotesque, the repressed, and the deeply human. Her short film Mold won Best Female Director at several Film Festivals.
Her documentary Pole Dancing as a Dance Form received Best Documentary Film from the University of East London.
Ankita’s new project, Crown of 4 Finger, is set to release soon and will further expand the Rotten Valley universe. With each work, she delves deeper into the emotional and psychological complexities of human existence—examining the things we learn, hide, and hold in the dark.
